GOOD NEWS, The Russian Air Force will get Su-57 Stealth Fighter in 2020
Sukhoi warplane manufacturer plans to start shipping Su-57 stealth fighter aircraft to the Russian Air Force in 2020, said a company representative who spoke to Shephard earlier this month, The Diplomat reported.
Deliveries were originally scheduled to begin at the end of 2019, with the Russian Aerospace Force scheduled to receive shipments of two Su-57 fighters by 2019 and two more by 2020. However, an accident at the Su-57 in December 2019 - considered the first production series fighter aircraft during flight tests reportedly delayed a number of Su-57 shipments for the first few months.
Russian defense officials in December 2019 stressed that the first Su-57 would be submitted to the Air Force in 2020.
Large-scale work is waiting for us in 2020 to stabilize the aircraft industry, "Rostec leader Sergei Chemezov was quoted as saying on December 26 last year by the TASS news agency. "The first large-scale shipments of the fifth generation Su-57 aircraft will begin.
Russian Aerospace Forces are currently testing 10 Su-57 prototypes, four of which are reported to have flown its combat mission. The Chief of Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, First Deputy Minister of Defense General Valery Gerasimov, revealed in December 2019 that the Su-57 had undergone a "second battle test" in Syria, where all planned tasks were successfully carried out.
All Su-57 prototype fighters have been equipped with derivatives of the Russian AL-41F1S Saturn engine, the AL-41F1 is an older aircraft engine, which was also mounted on the Sukhoi Su-35S Flanker-E. It is unclear when production will switch to the more sophisticated Saturn izdeliye 30 engine.
In May 2019, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that the Aerospace Force would receive 76 Su-57 units by 2028. A contract between the Russian Ministry of Defense and United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) was signed in July 2019.
Deputy Defense Minister Alexei Krivoruchko announced in June 2019 that the Sukhoi Corporation was ready to mass produce the Su-57. In July, after the signing of a contract with the Ministry of Defense, Russian defense industry officials revealed that the production of the Su-57 series had begun, but gave no details.
According to Russian media reports, the economic impact of global health problems could drive a reduction in the number of Su-57s ordered by the Air Force, and move to more purchases of Su-35 and other fourth-generation fighter aircraft. The Russian Ministry of Defense has so far not commented on these reports openly.
Russia's defense industry has developed a number of new weapons systems for Su-57 combat aircraft including new hypersonic air-to-ground missiles. In December 2018, a defense industry source revealed that the Su-57 might also be armed with hypersonic air-to-surface missiles with "characteristics" similar to the Kh-47M2 Kinzhal (Dagger) air launch ballistic missile.
