somewhere along the way
it turned into a thousand
or maybe a thousand and one
if this one counts

a few sank without a sound
a few moved a little faster
most of them just stayed there
quiet where I left them

there were days I felt tired
days I thought it was funny
most of the time I just wrote
so it looked like something

things I didn’t figure out
still aren’t figured out
but my hand still presses upload
like it already knows

sometimes it feels like a habit
sometimes it feels like less
sometimes it feels like I should stop
and then I don’t

a thousand or maybe more
it doesn’t really mean much
just a number I kept adding to
and never really count
