A toaster becomes a fire hazard when not maintained. Dried bread crumbs next to burning hot coils is a recipe for disaster!

Here is simple step by step tutorial for a clean toaster.

1. Unplug it.
2. Remove crumb trays and clean them in the sink with water and dish soap.
3. Flip the toaster over and shake out any loose crumbs still inside.
4. Clean the coils inside with a cleaning toothbrush.
5. Clean the outside of the toaster with a damp cloth and dish soap.
6. Reassemble and let dry for 24 hours before plugging it back up to use.
