The Final Voyage of the RMS Queen Mary - 1967

The RMS Queen Mary is a retired British ocean liner that sailed primarily on the North Atlantic Ocean from 1936 to 1967 for the Cunard-White Star Line. KCRA-TV reporter Mike Boyd was there for the final voyage of this historic ship to Long Beach, California, where she was permanently docked as a hotel and attraction. This footage features interviews with passengers, staff, and Captain John Treasure Jones. Although the footage and audio are a little rough (even after restoration work), we can still get a sense of the glorious ocean liner making her final triumphant voyage to Long Beach. Today, after years of neglect, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020, the "Grey Ghost" has fallen into serious disrepair and is in danger of being lost forever. Let us hope she can be stabilized and brought back to her former glory.
