Transforming relationships and creating solidarity through food justice | Mark Bowen | TEDxSavannah

Mark Bowen saw first-hand the impact of the pandemic on people’s ability to access food, particularly fresh food. Working with community partners, he and others led the way for transactional relationships to become transformational relationships supporting farmers and feeding seniors and others in need in Savannah, Georgia. Mark Bowen was born and raised in Virginia, outside of Washington, D.C. and currently serves as the programs director for the Forsyth Farmers Market in Savannah, Georgia. His career has primarily focused on community organizing and education in food and social justice. He has worked in these areas throughout the mid-Atlantic and South for over 20 years. He is a licensed social worker taking a career shift towards mental health with aspirations to intersect mental health with social justice and horticultural therapy.
