The Law – An Appeal to Reason by Frederic Bastiat

Narrated by G. Edward Griffin, this is the classic treatise on the futility of socialism, written in 1850 by the French statesman Frederic Bastiat.

Bastiat addresses his appeal to the French Legislative Assembly, passionately exposing the contradictions of socialism.
- Is it proper for a large group to plunder a small group?
- Is it any different if the plunderers use the democratic process to pass laws that make their plundering legal?

This essay has been responsible for turning countless collectivists into individualists.

Alejandro Szita wrote of this recording: "Dear Ed, this is just to let you know that your rendition of The Law by Monsieur Bastiat is the most extraordinary piece of enlightened knowledge I have yet studied. I have read many books, listened to many lectures, but this voice from the 1850s has a clarity of mind that I have never encountered so far. Thank you for bringing this knowledge to life."
