I’ll tell you why I think it is the best tool for creators, such as musicians, bloggers, coaches, book authors, and so on.

Convertkit PROS

The first thing you need to know about ConvertKit is that it is fully focusing on creators.

And what do I mean by “focusing on creators”, Well, all their templates and email sequences are designed for creators. For example, a popular podcaster and author, Tim Ferris uses Convertkit.

Not only that, but their community & learn pages seem to have an active community and
if you have a specific question you can get an answer fairly quickly others.

This is where it gets interesting, as ConvertKit has some unique features like a paid newsletter, That means, your subscribers pay you a monthly fee to be part of your newsletter. So, you can monetize the newsletter itself and create exclusive content like that.

Speaking of monetization, you can also sell digital products right on ConvertKit. You just need to create a sales page and people can buy directly from there. The sales page is pretty easy to set up, and you have some templates to choose from.

When it comes to pricing it’s a mid-tier tool, as the plans start from twenty-five dollars.
Although, they do offer a free plan if you have less than a thousand subscribers.
the free plan doesn't include automation. Which kinda sucks. So you can only send out broadcast emails right away or schedule them for a certain date.

Speaking of automation, if you upgrade, you can do all the basic automation, based on different parameters, tags, or user actions. For most people, this should be enough.

Convertkit CONS

In general, I like the interface, it’s super clean, but with some features, it takes a bit of time to understand the logic behind it.

Another thing that bothers me a little, is the limited email templates. They just have a few different ones, and they are pretty basic. So you will have to create your own.
If you need styled templates, this won’t be for you.

That said, it’s better to use text emails when you are starting out, as email providers like Gmail and outlook are more likely to categories your emails as spam or promotions if you have highly-styled emails.

Similar to MailerLite, this tool also has some limitations when it comes to complex automation. When compared to, for example, ActiveCampaign. You can do the basic stuff,
send a welcome email sequence when people signup and you can have multiple automation flows, and so on.

But just in general there are only a limited amount of triggers you can choose from.
You can see on the screen what I mean. For beginners that should be enough, but if you need more advanced, I would go with ActiveCampaign.

Another thing to keep in mind, that with Convertkit you will have every subscriber on one big list. So if you want to run multiple companies or different topics on the same account, Then you would probably need to open another Convertkit account or choose another tool.

And here is a couple of cool features that the paid plan comes with:
- You can deliver opt-in incentives - so you can give away a digital product for an email address. And this is the built-in mechanism.
- And you also have an option to AB test your emails
