Pandit Firoz Dastur (also spelled Feroze Dastur) (30 September 1919 – 9 May 2008) was an Indian film actor and an Indian classical vocalist from the Kirana gharana (singing style).Dastur worked in the Indian film industry in 1930s] acting in a few films by Wadia Movietone and others. In 1933, when Wadia Movietone under JBH Wadia, released its first talkie film, he performed classical songs as child actor in film Lal-e-Yaman But his first love was Indian classical music Pt. Firoz Dastur is considered the doyen of the famous Kirana Gharana initiated by the legendary Ustad Abdul Karim Khan Saheb. Pt. Firoz Dastur was trained in music along with Pt. Bhimsen Joshi and Smt. Gangubai Hangal. He has carried forward the tradition of this gharana innovatively. He is known to be a guru par excellence and an enlightened teacher. He has been a respected professor of music in the University of Mumbai for more than two decades
