Gold Coast and Perth mayors propose ‘coast-to-coast’ Commonwealth Games
The mayors of the Gold Coast and Perth are proposing a coast-to-coast Commonwealth Games in 2026.
Gina Rinehart is backing the proposal to ‘rescue Australia’s reputation’ after the original host Victoria pulled out.
Sky News host Liz Storer says Australia is getting “more creative” with the Commonwealth Games after former Victorian premier Daniel Andrews originally pulled out from the event.
“We’re just getting more and more creative with this thing.
“Now we’ve got two cities on different sides of the nation being like, want to go 50-50?”
