Celestial Navigation Math
TabletClass.com - http://www.tabletclass.com Math. This video explains the basics of how math is used in celestial navigation. When people first started to navigate by stars a massive explosion in trade and culture developed. Celestial navigation requires the use of a sextant, clock and nautical table but most importantly it requires mathematics. SPECIAL NOTE: The earth is round/oval, so my use of right triangles is a simple math model to explain the basic concepts of navigating by the stars. However, the actual math needed to perform celestial navigation involves trigonometry on a sphere- which is very advance math- as such you should watch the video knowing that right angle trigonometry is not actually used in navigation because the earth is a sphere.
