IOM Lithuania | Educating Refugee Students: Towards Safe, Caring, and Connected Schools

The International Organisation for Migration (IOM) Vilnius Office in Lithuania organised a workshop on "Building Safe, Caring and Interconnected Schools" to discuss strategies, good practices, and recommendations for schools and teachers to promote the inclusion of refugee students. Workshop speaker Dr. Snežana Obradović-Ratković, Brock University, Ontario, Canada, discussed culture shock, challenges, and dynamics related to the integration of refugee students into a new educational community. She advised on how to overcome these challenges, such as establishing clear rules and regulations, building relationships, and equipping educational institutions with the right resources. She also drew attention to good practices from Canada that could facilitate the integration of Ukrainian refugees into Lithuanian school communities. We hope that you will find the content of the seminar useful and informative. Thank you for joining us!
