✅ - 1 NEVER SEAT NEXT TO SOMEONE ON THE BUS AND EVEN ON THE TRAIN IN NORWAY

Only if you have the exact seat number reserved written in your ticket. And still you better don’t seat next to anyone on the train in Norway.

Remember: Norwegians are not on the bus to socialise.
What is not appropriate in Norway? Can I eat with my hands in Norway?
Norwegian etiquette.

✅ - 2 DO NOT INITIATE ANY SMALL TALK IN NORWAY.

The Norwegians are not social people and social situations make them feel uncomfortable. This is because social situations require small talk - an alarming prospect for a Norwegian.

Can I talk to strangers in Norway?

✅ - 3 DO NOT EAT WITH YOUR HANDS IN NORWAY.
When in comes to dining, Norwegians hardly ever eat with their hands. Even Norwegian sandwiches are eaten with utensils. Same with muffins and skolebrød in a coffee shop — use utensils to eat them!

✅ - 4 NEVER DRINK AND DRIVE IN NORWAY.
Norway enforces very strict laws for drunk drivers.

A single beer or a small glass of wine can put you over the limit, which can result in a small fortune in fines or even prison in Norway.
Norwegian prison.

✅ - 5 DO NOT TIP IN THE RESTAURANT IN NORWAY.

Yes, you don’t need to tip in Norway as service charge is already included in your bill.
It’s ok to round up your bill to the next even 5 or 10 amount, for example to 38.57 to 40 kroner.
Shall I tip in the restaurant in Norway? How much should I leave as a tip in Norway?

✅ - 6 DO NOT TRY TO HAGGLE IN NORWAY.
It’s pointless.
Every item has a fixed price tag. So unless the item is damaged trying to bargain over the price with a vendor will only get a puzzled look.
Keep your haggling skills for a second-hand car salesman.

✅ - 7 DO NOT WEAR SHOES INDOORS IN NORWAY

Once you’ve made a few friends during your travels, chance are that you will be invited over for a visit. Norwegians tend to remove their shoes before entering a house.

✅ - 8 NEVER COMPLAIN IN NORWAY
Norwegians just don’t complain.
In Norway you are defined by what you do. Luckily, the rule of equality states that, just like people, all jobs are equal.
Complain to Norwegian friends that you don’t like your boss and they will tell you to get another job.

Can I make friend in Norway? How can I make friends in Norway? Are Norwegian people friendly? Norwegians. Norwegian people.

✅ - 9 NEVER RAISE YOUR VOICE IN NORWAY

For 1 year of my life in Norway I’ve never heard Norwegians screaming. Maybe Norway is one of the most peaceful countries and its citizens are doing their best to avoid any conflict situation.

Or because Norwegians are too busy waxing skis, making packed lunches or improving their mountain huts..
Those activities are so time consuming, so what’s the point to waste your energy on fights.

✅ - 10 NEVER INTERRUPT OTHER PEOPLE WHEN THEY SPEAK IN NORWAY

I know is some cultures, like in Italy or Spain it’s ok to start responding before the person in front of you finished his speech.

It is considered rude in Norway. And very impolite.
