This is why you should not ignore this great bulk resource for your garden! Weather you are growing vegetables or flowers and shrubs, your garden will thank you for using wood chips. Think of wood chips as a very slow release plant food, as the microbes and worms and fungi break down the chips. They turn into nutrient dense compost.

Cool fact is that when wood chips breakdown they often use fungi and mycelium to achieve this. Where as when compost is made it is made with more of a microbial breakdown meaning there is not so much of a fungal web in the soil. This is why it is important to use lots of resources in the garden.
