Ping (ICMP) Flood DDoS Attack: What You Need to Know

A Ping (ICMP) Flood is a type of DDoS attack where an attacker overwhelms a target with a massive number of ICMP Echo Request (Ping) packets, consuming its bandwidth and processing power. This can lead to severe network slowdowns or complete unavailability.

✅ Network congestion
✅ High CPU usage on the target
✅ Possible system crashes

🔹 Implement rate limiting for ICMP traffic
🔹 Use firewalls & IDS/IPS & DDoS Protection to filter malicious ICMP requests
🔹 Disable unnecessary ICMP traffic from external sources
