I take a trip to Playa Jardin in the North of Tenerife and come across a deserted abandoned swimming pool, which was haunting, but at the same time was about the most exciting thing there.

I found myself in what was supposed to be the area’s no.1 holiday resort of Playa Jardin.

You will find Playa Jardín beach in the tourist town of Puerto de la Cruz, in the north of Tenerife. This is supposed to be one of the most famous beaches in the region, and was designed in the 1990s by the famous Canarian artist, César Manrique, created to guarantee rest and relaxation for its visitors. I was told that you get to the beach, via gardens full of local plants with pathways that take you between stone walls and waterfalls is the perfect way to start a thoroughly relaxing day on a beach that offers all the services you need and incredible views of Mount Teide.

The big question is, Tenerife, is it grim up North?
