Google Android XR Glasses Revealed - Samsung Hardware, Warby Parker and Gentle Monster Styling

Google has unveiled its return to smart glasses. At I/O 2026, the company previewed Android XR glasses built with Samsung and styled by Warby Parker and Gentle Monster. Audio frames ship in the autumn.

These Android XR glasses pair with your phone over Android or iOS and run Gemini through over-ear speakers. Two formats are in the works: audio-only frames that whisper answers into your ear, and display glasses that overlay information on the lens.

A "Hey Google" or a tap on the frame wakes Gemini. From there it can identify what you're looking at, give turn-by-turn directions, summarise missed messages, or translate signs and conversation in real time while preserving the speaker's tone.

The audio version arrives in the autumn. The display glasses are still being refined and will get more attention later in the year.

Google Glass was over a decade ago. With Samsung's hardware and proper fashion partners, the second attempt looks a lot less awkward than the first.
