Machine Tending UR10e and 1999 Haas VF-2

Basic machine tending setup on a 1999 Haas VF2 and a Universal Robots UR10e. The CNC uses the M21 relay to tell the UR controller that the program is complete.

The blanks are staged in a grid. It will put the machined part back in the same place that the blank was picked from.

These parts require 3 machining operations. Here he has set up the first operation. It does a batch of 18 before requiring a person to remove the machined parts then refill the grid with blanks.

There are lots of ways to optimize this. The first would be a feeding mechanism that can hold more blank parts. With that the robot could run continuously until the feeder(s) ran out. A person could fill the feeder while the robot was running too. Pneumatic cylinders to open and close the doors is another option.

The point of this exercise was to get a simple machine tending demo set up for an old CNC without modifying the CNC. It wasn't to optimize it for mass production.

NOTE: The Ready Robotics controller on the stand wasn't used in this video.
