How to Add Day of the Week Next to Date in Windows 11 Taskbar

Windows 11 doesn't show the day of the week (Mon, Tue) by default next to the taskbar date. Use the Region settings to customize the short date format with "ddd" or "dddd" codes.

Step-by-Step Instructions
Method 1: Via Control Panel (Recommended)
Open Control Panel

Press Windows + R, type control, press Enter.

Access Region Settings

Click Clock and Region -- Region (or search "Region" in Start menu).

Modify Date Format

Click Additional settings... button.

Go to Date tab.

In Short date field, add ddd at the beginning:

ddd dd/MM/yyyy

(Shows "Mon 09/01/2026")

Apply Changes

Click Apply -- OK -- OK.

Taskbar updates immediately.

Alternative: Registry Edit (Advanced)
Press Windows + R, type regedit, press Enter.

Navigate to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\International
Double-click sShortDate, add ddd prefix.

Restart Explorer or reboot.

Quick Tips
Revert: Remove ddd from Short date field to restore default.

Separator Options: Use comma ddd, dd/MM/yyyy or space ddd dd/MM/yyyy.

Multiple Monitors: Changes apply system-wide.
