Bibb County accelerates roadwork and repairs, adding paving crews and getting major projects started

Roadwork across Bibb County is shifting into high gear, as county leaders move to add two more paving crews in an effort to accelerate long-overdue repairs.

This week, county commissioners are expected to vote on the next phase of road repairs—building on last week’s approval of a nine-mile paving project, which will now triple in scope.

Last week, commissioners held a special-called meeting to accept $2,926,055.13 in Local Road Assistance grant funds from the Georgia Department of Transportation. They also approved hiring Professional Paving Services, LLC to manage another package of 8.83 miles of road paving and resurfacing.

An additional 18 miles could be greenlit at Tuesday's commission meeting, if a separate contracts are awarded to Atlanta Paving & Concrete Construction and McLeroy Inc.
