How to Connect an Eero Device to a Spectrum Router
Eero mesh Wi-Fi systems are compatible with Spectrum internet service . To connect an Eero, you will need to decide whether to use the Eero as your main router or add it to your existing Spectrum network.

Using Eero as Your Main Router

This is the recommended setup to avoid network conflicts. You will need a modem, which Spectrum provides. You can connect one Eero unit directly to the Spectrum modem, and this Eero will become your new router .

Connect an Ethernet cable from your Spectrum modem to the Ethernet port on your main Eero unit.

Set up the Eero using the Eero app on your smartphone.

You should then return the Spectrum router to save on rental costs .

It is highly recommended to disable the Wi-Fi on the Spectrum router if you keep it, or turn it off to prevent interference .

Adding Eero to an Existing Spectrum Router

If you want to keep using your Spectrum router, you can still add Eero units to improve your Wi-Fi coverage.

Connect your main Eero unit to an open Ethernet port on the back of your Spectrum router using an Ethernet cable .

The Eero will create a new Wi-Fi network. You can use the same network name and password as your Spectrum network to avoid reconnecting all your devices .

Additional Eero units can then be placed around your house to extend the new Eero network wirelessly.

To avoid network conflicts, you can put the Eero network into bridge mode. In this configuration, your Spectrum router remains the primary controller of your network .

Important Notes

Network Name: If you have two networks with the same name, it can cause connection issues. Either disable the Wi-Fi on your Spectrum router, or give your Eero network a different name .

MAC Address: If your Eero fails to connect to your Spectrum modem, try restarting the modem. If the issue persists, you might need to contact Spectrum support to ensure the modem is not locked to a previous device's MAC address .
