The Kid Who Hacked The CIA

In 2015, a teenager from England shocked the world by infiltrating the personal accounts of some of the most powerful intelligence officials in the United States.
His name was Kane Gamble.
From his bedroom in Coalville, Gamble used social engineering to gain access to accounts linked to the director of the Central Intelligence Agency, officials connected to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and sensitive data tied to the U.S. Department of Justice.
Using deception rather than advanced hacking tools, he tricked telecom employees into resetting passwords and granting him access to accounts belonging to top intelligence figures including John Brennan.
What started as online activism quickly escalated into a massive cyber scandal.
At one point, nearly 20,000 individuals connected to the FBI had their details exposed online after data linked to the Department of Justice was leaked and spread across the internet, eventually appearing on WikiLeaks.
Authorities on both sides of the Atlantic launched an investigation that eventually led to Gamble’s arrest by the National Crime Agency in the United Kingdom.
