Protect Your Internet- Router Step by Step Instructions for Securing #technology #onlinesafety #hack
Hey y'all, in a previous video I told you about the danger of not updating your router, but didn't include a how to, so here it is.
Your router still has the default password…
WPS turned on…
AND remote access enabled?
Yeah…
your Wi-Fi is basically fighting for its life right now.
Three quick router settings everybody should check immediately.
First:
Log into your router.
Open a browser and type in your router’s IP address.
Usually it’s:
192.168.1.1
or
192.168.0.1
Then sign in with the router admin password.
Now change the admin password.
NOT your Wi-Fi password.
The actual router login password.
Because a terrifying number of routers still use:
admin…
password…
or something equally ridiculous.
Next:
Turn OFF WPS.
WPS stands for Wi-Fi Protected Setup.
It was supposed to make devices easier to connect…
But it also created security weaknesses attackers love targeting.
Then check your Wi-Fi security settings.
Use WPA3 security if available.
Or WPA2 if WPA3 isn’t supported.
If your router still says WEP…
that thing belongs in a museum.
And bonus tip:
Update your router firmware.
Because outdated routers are basically tiny unpatched computers connected directly to the internet.
Which is not ideal.
I’m NomadicIT, and as always…
I hope this helps.”
