Two-phase induction motor, rotating magnetic field generator, Tesla's Egg of Columbus
Four induction coils from early telephone installations are driven 90 degrees out of phase, here shown with a steel rotor using a graphite on steel needle point bearing. There's some nice frame rate aliasing as well, easily seen as the graphite is square in form.
