Keeping your CSS lean, clean, and tidy is challenging for large sites, especially large Drupal sites. Drupal's theming layer contains poorly constructed CSS selectors that encourage bad front-end practices and run against popular CSS architecture strategies like SMACSS (Scalable and Modular Architecture for CSS). There are ways for themers to get around these challenges, which we will cover in this session. We will discuss how you can use template files, theme functions, preprocess functions, and some helpful modules to add classes when and where you need them the most. We will cover how the SMACSS approach can help streamline your site's front-end performance and scalability while at the same time making your CSS manageable, the Drupal way.
