Why African Carriers Don't Fly Airbus A380

It is no secret No African carrier has ever placed an order for an A380. Why did African carriers give the big bird a wide berth? The sheer size and logistical problems of the Airbus A380 kept all African carriers from flying the massive super-jumbo. The four-engine jet is much, much larger than other commercial planes and would require considerable coordination of many people and resources to support.

As result airports would be required to undergo extensive refurbishments and all sorts of changes to support the aircraft for instance longer and wider runways, maintenance technologies, wider taxiways, more gate space, and dual boarding bridges for the top and bottom levels of the plane. If any carrier ordered the A380 new hangers would definitely be needed, employees that were already in the business would need to be trained to operate the plane, on top of that the price that the airline paid to acquire the plane which is by no means cheap.

Add all of this and the operating costs are just too expensive for African carriers to be viable.
