Inside China’s Ice City | Harbin Ice Festival Explained | Frozen City Made of Snow & Ice

The world-famous China Harbin Ice City, also known as the Harbin International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival, is built every year in Harbin, Heilongjiang province of China, and is considered the largest ice and snow festival in the world. This incredible Ice City of China is constructed using thousands of massive ice blocks taken from the frozen Songhua River, shaped into ice castles, palaces, sculptures, theme parks, and light shows that glow beautifully with colorful LED lights at night. The cost of building Harbin Ice City runs into hundreds of millions of yuan, but the festival attracts millions of tourists from China and around the world, generating billions in tourism revenue. The structures usually last for about 3 to 4 months, from late December to early March, depending on the weather, before they slowly melt with rising temperatures. Known as the Disneyland of Ice and Snow, the Harbin Ice City in China is a global tourist hotspot, showcasing Chinese creativity, culture, and winter art on a massive scale.
