Viel Applaus, aber auch einzelne Buhrufe gab es bei der Premiere von Mozarts "Zauberflöte". Es war die erste mit Spannung erwartete Neuproduktion der Salzburger Festspiele. Die Inszenierung der US-amerikanischen Regisseurin Lydia Steier entpuppte sich als Herausforderung für das Publikum. Es reagierte von begeistert bis ablehnend und nachdenklich. There was a lot of applause, but also some boos at the premiere of Mozart's "Magic Flute". It was the first eagerly awaited new production of the Salzburg Festival.
