M28: The “Other” Sikorsky
Known for its vast line of rotary-wing aircraft, Sikorsky is also looking to make a name for one of the precious few fixed-wing aircraft in its lineup, the M28 turboprop. Built by Poland’s PZL, which Sikorsky acquired in 2007, the twin-tailed, twin-engine M28 can carry 19 passengers in airline configuration, or a variety of other kit in a utility version. Included are cargo, paratroopers and medical litters. Aviation Week took a quick hop with the crew in March as they prepared for a two-month tour through the Caribbean and Latin America to show off the aircraft to potential buyers.
