First To Perform New FDA Approved Artificial Disc - Simplify Disc
Surgeons at the the Center for Disc Replacement at Texas Back Institute share their excitement and information about the lates Artificial Disc to be FDA approved for use in the cervical spine in the United States. The surgeons at Texas Back Institute participated in the FDA clinical trials where Dr. Richard Guyer held the responsibility of the National Co-Principal Investigator.
The new Simplify Disc is MRI compatible, it uses new materials allowing it to be virtually invisible on MRI scans. Traditional Artificial Disc devices create image artifacts on MRIs displaying as a star burst, preventing physicians to see the area around the device.
The Simplify Disc also offers smaller sizes for people with smaller spine anatomy. Using "Peak" materials the disc uses ceramic materials that do not have any carcinogenic properties in the body as indicated in older, larger joint replacement devices.
"If you have been told you need a cervical fusion, you owe it to yourself to see if you are a candidate for Artificial Disc Replacement." - Dr. Scott Blumenthal
