Choosing a Toughbook is… well, tough! So what are the main similarities and differences of the CF 53 and CF 54 you may ask? Let us break it down. While both laptops provide a 14” screen, carrying handles and Intel processors, along with room for various upgrades, they differ a bit in feel and standard features.

As the “father” to the CF 54, the CF 53 offers a heartier hand feel that traditionalists may prefer. The CF 53 boasts a more heavily padded hard drive, which makes it a bit weightier than the CF 54, however, this also means that it has the potential to withstand more abuse.

Comparatively, the CF 54 is lighter and offers room for an additional battery. A docking port and backlit chiclet keyboard also come standard in the CF 54 model.
