The Birds (1963) - Nursery-rhyme / Crows scene [1080]

There's no musical score in this film - just a piece of piano music played during one scene, and this masterful use of a cheerful nursery rhyme in another. This sequence comes soon after the third bird attack and the first fatality, and the family at the centre of it all gets concerned about the daughter, who is still in school.

Directed by Alfred Hitchcock, with a screenplay by Evan Hunter, based on the story by Daphne du Maurier. Starring Tippi Hedren, Rod Taylor, Jessica Tandy and Veronica Cartwright. This scene features the nursery rhyme 'Rissle-dy, Rossle-dy', aka "I married my wife in the month of June". Derived from the traditional Scottish folk son "The Wee Cooper o' Fife", with additional lyrics by screenwriter Evan Hunter.
