Working FlowThe process of transmitting data follows these four steps:Preparation: A network node (like a computer) prepares a data packet.
Transmission: The packet travels through its single, dedicated Point-to-Point Link.Reception: The Central Switch/Hub receives the packet and reads the target address.
Delivery: The Switch/Hub directs the packet specifically to the intended target node.
Key ComponentsCentral Hub/Switch: The core device that manages all data traffic.Nodes: Devices such as computers (1-4), a server, and a printer.
Dedicated Links: Each device has its own independent connection to the central hub, ensuring that a failure in one cable doesn't bring down the entire network. How it WorksLoop
Connection: All devices (nodes) are connected to one another in a closed-loop circuit.Unidirectional Flow: Data travels in a unique, one-way direction around the ring.
Data Addressing: Every data packet or "token" has a specific destination address attached to it.
Node Verification: As data passes through, each node checks the address:
If it matches: The node accepts the data.If it doesn't match: The node forwards the data to the next device in the ring.
Components of the DiagramBackbone (Bus): The main central cable that carries data throughout the network.
Terminators: Placed at both ends of the backbone to absorb signals and prevent them from reflecting back (signal bounce).
Nodes: Devices like computers, printers, and servers.
Drop Lines & Taps: The connection points linking individual devices to the main backbone.Working FlowBased on the notes provided in the image, data transmission follows these steps:
Preparation: A node (e.g., Computer 1) prepares a Data Packet for transmission.
Transmission: The node sends the signal onto the shared backbone.Propagation: The signal travels in both directions along the cable to all connected nodes.
Verification: Every node on the network examines the destination address attached to the packet.
Acceptance: Only the node with the matching address accepts and processes the data; all other nodes ignore it.
