CORTICAL CLEAVING HYDRODISSECTION – A FORGOTTEN ART

Hydrodissection during cataract surgery is a part of every procedure but a clearly defined method is not available and most procedures are done in a random fashion. This video shows detailed steps of how to perform Cortical cleaving hydrodissection (CCH) helping to provide a easily rotatable lens free from all adhesions. This also helps avoid the separate step of cortical irrigation aspiration and provides a clean bag at the end of nucleus removal itself. If practiced routinely a dramatic decrease in cataract surgery time will also be noted
Cortical cleaving hydrodissection (CCH) was presented in detail by Dr Howard Fine four decades ago but had been forgotten with the passage of time.
