TALKWORKS FILMS was set up in January 2009 as an independent offshoot of the UK-based sustainable security think-tank Oxford Research Group to pursue its programme of dialogue on nuclear futures with the key decision-shapers and experts in the field at a time mounting nuclear tension which has been termed The Nuclear Tipping Point by four senior US statesmen (see: https://www.nti.org/about/programs-pr....
Set up by Anne Piper and Rosie Houldsworth working in association with independent filmmaker Andy Russell of Different Films Ltd. (http://different-films.com/) and supported largely by Quaker charitable trusts and individuals, we film personal interviews with the prominent public figures and leading disarmament and global security experts about about why they have joined together now across their political divides for the first time in 50 years to put their combined weight behind the multilateral nuclear disarmament agenda urged by President Obama in his April 5 2009 Prague Speech (https://obamawhitehouse.archives.gov/...) sin which he committed the United States to lead the world in working together with the other nuclear weapon states to take immediate and concrete steps to reduce nuclear threats and tensure the peace and security of a world without nuclear weapons for future generations.
We also interviewed students in Oxford to discover how aware their generation is about nuclear weapons and the continuing threat they pose, and to ask them what kind of world they envisage for their future.
