About 11,000 staff members help keep The University of Texas at Austin running like a well-oiled machine. They play unique roles that contribute to the future of the university. Get to know the stories of four staff members through a series of photos and audio clips.

Jeff Bachschmid, a carpenter with Project Management and Construction Services, said his work is rewarding because of the emphasis placed on getting a job done right.
Kathy Palmer, a licensed vocational nurse for University Healthy Services, says she finds caring for students to be "inspiring and energizing."
Virginia Jaramillo is a friendly food preparer, happy to feed students, staff and faculty at Littlefield and Kinsolving.
Laura Davis, a recruiting sergeant for The University of Texas at Austin Police Department, takes seriously her role of protecting the future leaders on campus.
