Amari Havodda Maldives Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll Nov/Dec 2018

"I understood that something as banal as looking out to the sea can be a wonderful gift. "
In Nov/Dec 2018 we were on the beautiful Maldives island of Amari Havodda in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll. The atoll is located about 400 km south of Male and it consists of 153 small islands, 143 islands are uninhabited. If you are looking for a solitude far from mass tourism, you will surely find its fulfillment here. The island can be reached by an internal flight from Male in about an hour and then it is still in about 20 minutes by speedboat until you reach this dream island. We had a beach and later an overwater bungalow and both were very, very nice. The island of Amari, a barefoot island about 800 m long and 200 m wide, is about 30 minutes to walk around.
Amari, with its beautiful sandy beach and many tropical palm trees, is situated in a turquoise lagoon that dazzles in many shades of colour. The island offers a beautiful reef with many tropical fish. However, as on many other Maldives islands, the corals are no longer as colorful and colorful as they were before 2014, but new corals are growing again. When snorkelling and also when diving, we have seen. bat fish, flute fish, clown fish (Nemos), doctor fish, parrot fish, Orient sweet lips, eagle rays and stingrays, turtles, Barracudas and reef sharks seen almost daily and many other fish species. With the Eurodivers team I was at the house reef, Gosi Island, Point Thila and Kahanbu Giri diving. The Eurodivers team led by Sandrine, Betty and Amir is very, very nice, friendly and professional.
Diving at Amari is really fun, the dives are an experience for life. The friendliness of all the staff on Amari and the great service are hard to beat in my view. Christoph Leonhard, the hotel manager, from my point of view and his team, is doing a great job and that reflects the entire Amari team, so that an Amari holiday still makes you dream and enjoy many weeks later. Thanks also to Melanie, Doro Lisa, Rebecca, Vanessa, Elmar, Frank and Stefan and of course to Mark for the wonderful time and the interesting conversations on Amari. Thanks also to the Amari FB Fan Club Form and the Maldives FB Forum for the many good tips and suggestions before and also after the trip. Thanks also to Vanessa, Rebecca and others for some pictures I have received for this clip.
