Local Austin travel blogger @Natasha Ibrahim gets treatment for a hamstring injury during a yoga class. Most commonly we think to stretch tight muscles to try to get relief from low back pain. But from what we see more commonly, tight muscles are the effect coming from a misaligned neighboring joint. When we have a misaligned joint somewhere in the body, the muscles surrounding it become tight to protect the area, and to try to correct the misalignment. This a smart response from the body.
When the misalignment is corrected and stabilized (this takes time and is a process), we most commonly see the tight muscles disappear! We also see the importance in addressing the soft tissue part of the injury so we either do some muscle work or more commonly, refer to our local massage therapists to work in conjunction with us.
