Fountain of Youth? India??

Imagine convincing the entire Western world that you discovered the literal Fountain of Youth and became immortal...
all while sitting in a dark room, aging rapidly. 🤯

In the wildly popular medieval travel book "The Travels of Sir John Mandeville", Jean de Bourgogne claimed he traveled to India and drank from a glowing, magical spring three separate times. He told Europe it completely cured his illnesses and gave him eternal energy.
But the brutal truth? "John Mandeville" was Bourgogne's fake identity, he never even left his library desk. While he was writing this "fan fiction" about his own immortality, he was actually suffering from illness and growing old. He essentially invented the world's very first "youth filter" to escape his own harsh reality.
