Dog Grooming Blades and how I use them: Part 1

This is part one showing the use of the shorter blades, primarily for the ears. I use a 40 blade when I want a very clean cut and I believe that the 40 is the safest blade to use on the ears of dogs who regularly have their ears shaved, and on dogs in excellent condition. I use this for Schnauzers, Kerry Blues, Bedlingtons, Tassled ears on Poodles, and the inner ear on Yorkies. Wheatens I use a 7F on the outside of the ear below the fold and a 10 on the inside. Pet trims on Wire Fox I use an 8 1/2 on the outside and a 15 on the inside. Scotty I use a 10 & 15 on the outside and a 40 on the inside. I will not shave matted ears, I refer those out to a groomer who doesn’t care about the potential injury. Doodles seem super sensitive to any trimming around the ear, either clippered or scissored. Cocker Spaniels I use a 10 inside and out and go over the edges with a 40.
