Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar launched a sharp attack on Viktor Orbán’s migration record, arguing that Hungary’s former leader had years to block the EU Migration Pact but failed to do so.
“Mr. Orbán had all the time and possibility to stop the approval of the migration pact. He never managed to do that.”

Speaking in Brussels, Magyar said Orbán spent years using veto politics “for the sake of using it”, ultimately leaving Hungary isolated inside the European Union.
“He was left with no more friends… he couldn’t influence the procedure.”
Magyar stressed that the EU Migration Pact was approved while Orbán was participating in EU meetings, rejecting claims that Brussels imposed it without Hungarian involvement.
The Hungarian leader also made a controversial accusation against the previous government.
“Mr. Orbán set free 2,200 people smugglers from Hungarian prisons.”
Magyar said his government would maintain strong border protection while rejecting the idea of migrant camps inside Hungary.
