During recent months, extremely right-wing groups and individual actors of both Russia and Ukraine have become prominent in reports of international mass media. Which impact did these groups have on the recent escalation of tensions between Moscow and Kyiv? How relatively important have been radically nationalist ideas and actors in the domestic and international politics of Russia and Ukraine before, during and after the EuroMaidan? Is ultra-nationalism or even fascism driving the recent events in today Eastern Europe? What are scenarios for the future of Ukraine’s and Russia’s relations to each other, and their domestic political developments? In the brief lecture and following discussion, it was attempted to give tentative answers and to suggest directions of future research.

The talk took place in Pembroke College, Cambridge, UK on 26th of June.
