The BRUTAL Execution Of The Commandant Of Terezin

During and before the Second World War, the Germans established huge networks of concentration camps across their occupied lands. Within these camps, the true evils of the Third Reich were carried out, and there was great degrees of suffering and mass murder. The largest camp established was Auschwitz, but one smaller but brutal camp was found in the Czech town of Terezin. There was a small fortress there which had been used for centuries, but the Nazis saw it as the perfect place to set up a Gestapo Prison Camp.

Heinrich Jockel who had served inside the SS for a number of years was placed in charge of the prison and he ruled over it with immense brutality and cruelty. Jockel had also worked at other concentration camps and he served as the Commandant of Terezin Small Fortress. He oversaw the camp and inside it was very overcrowded and disease was rampant. Also there were a large number of executions that were carried out here, and Jockel ordered them. He was known for his cruelty and to the Czech people he was a Nazi villain who caused mass suffering.

Jockel after the Second World War went on the run, but he was quickly captured and then handed over to the Czechs. They placed him on trial and then sentenced him to death. For his crimes of the Commandant of the Gestapo Prison, he was executed shortly after his trial. For many who witnessed the execution, it was some justice for the suffering he had caused.
