The Dick Emery Show - 1973 clips

Dressing in drag is nothing new. Men have been dressing as women for centuries to gain a laugh. But Dick Emery (1915 - 1983) was the first TV icon to become legendary for it. The picture quality is poor as this VHS recording was made when Emery's series was briefly revived around 1995 on Australian television. At that time, TV in Oz was still analog with a square 4:3 picture and our reception of Network Ten was not the best. Even so, Dick's humour shines through and he'd be gratified to think that he is still admired and remembered so many decades later. Especially when so many comic tryhards since his time have sunk without a trace.
