"Understanding of the people really begins with being able to communicate and to talk," said Susan L. Gong as she visits China's Beijing and Shanghai with a friendship delegation from the U.S. state of Utah.
The delegation has 13 members across ages: from Utah state officials to young students who are fond of learning the Chinese language.
"Hopefully some of these students over time will be able to contribute to better understanding" between the U.S. and China, added Gong, the first coordinator for Utah's Chinese language dual-immersion program.
