Action Photography Settings with the Canon EOS M50 | Camera Settings Talk

Here are settings I'd adjust for photographing moving subjects with the Canon EOS M50. I go over everything changed in the camera to make it easier to capture moving subjects with minimal distractions. We focus on Tv mode (shutter priority) here with shutter speed being the main setting in the camera you will control. Add to that the adjustment of viewfinder and screen settings with touch & drag autofocus.

The Canon EOS M50 comes by default in "Guided" mode. You need to switch your camera to "Standard" to use the camera as normal. To switch, access the "Disp level settings" tab. Press "OK". Select "Menu Display" and change that from "Guided" to "Standard". If you want to return to guided, go to the 4th tab called "DISPLAY LEVEL". Select "Menu Display" and change that from "Standard" to "Guided".

Consider the newer Canon EOS M50 Mark II:
It has clean HDMI output and better face tracking autofocus compared to the original.

The M50 will get around 10 photos in RAW before the buffer fills and around 35 with JPEG. C-RAW might be better than normal RAWs. So at maximum speed the M50's buffer will fill in just over a second with normal RAW images. That's why I feature JPEG in the video because you will get around 3x more photos when you need it.
