11 TV Hill: Book examines musicians' impact on Black America

Scott Joplin, Duke Ellington, Mahalia Jackson and John Coltrane are all among some of the most influential musicians in American history. However, their influence wasn't limited to their music as they all influenced the framework of Black America. The new book "On Rhetoric and Black Music" examines the role these musicians played in social and political enterprises. 11 TV Hill speaks with the author, University of Maryland, Baltimore County, English Professor Earl Brooks.
