Supply issues, pandemic closures contribute to inflation surge

The inflation surged to its highest level in a decade, with supply issues driving up the cost of homes and vehicles. But economists say inflation has also jumped because it’s compared to July 2020, when much of the world was closed for business because of the pandemic.
