Organ at St Paul’s Anglican Cantebury, Sydney.

Cathedral Organist Ross Cobb plays a flute tune on the historic organ at St Paul’s Canterbury. This little gem has just been re-erected at the rear of the (beautifully renovated) church building by Pitchford Organ Builders.

Congratulations to the parish authorities for deciding to keep this beautiful, small and historic organ that dates back to the 1860’s. Some changes were made in the early 1900’s. A refurbishment was completed by Pitchford and Garside in the 1970’s. At this time the great 4’ flute was transposed to a 2 2/3, and the swell string was removed in favour of a 2’ flute. The changes are actually very successful in delivering brightness that would have been lacking.

The original hand blowing lever is still operational.
Mechanical action throughout save for the Open Diapason 8 bass which is on a pneumatic chest.

It was an honour to be able to give this organ a new life!!
