This is How The Lazy Locksmith Opened The Lock on my Storage Unit

If you have a lock to some door or storage unit for which you've lost the key, as I had, your first instinct will be to call a locksmith, which I did.

This video shows how the aforementioned locksmith opened the lock, and what you can do in a similar situation to save yourself some money.

I expected him to at least spend some time with some lock picking equipment to at least salvage the lock. I mean, I didn't totally lose the keys; I had just temporarily misplaced them.

he took one look at it and got out his Dremel. Apparently my $5 lock wasn't worth his time to salvage. Yes, he did get the lock off, in two pieces, and I did pay him the $60 for his service.

Next time I find myself in a similar situation, before calling a locksmith, I'm simply going to go to Lowes or Home Depot and buy a Dremel myself for the same amount of money. Had I known the locksmith was going to use such a tool in this case, I'd have simply done the same. Sure, I was going to be out some money either way, but at least by doing it myself I would be able to actually own a tool that I might need at some other point in the future around the house.
