It's about time to value young women of color in leadership | Brittany Packnett | TEDxStLouisWomen

It's about time to value young women of color in leadership.

Brittany was raised in a tradition of social justice in St. Louis. Today, Brittany serves as Teach For America’s vice president of National Community Alliances and as an activist for racial and social equity.

An alum of both Washington University in St. Louis and American University, Brittany has been an elementary teacher, legislative staffer, education policy advocate, and executive director of Teach For America–St. Louis. Under her leadership, TFA–STL dramatically evolved, launching a local institute, increasing fundraising and diversity, and investing in culturally responsive pedagogy for the 20,000 students in corps member and alumni classrooms. Today, Brittany serves as Teach For America’s vice president of National Community Alliances.

Catalyzed by the death of Michael Brown, Brittany is a Ferguson protestor and is honored to serve on President Obama’s 21st Century Policing Task Force and the Ferguson Commission, helping bring protestor voice to policy change in the wake of Ferguson.
